Burton Bridge Closure

UPDATE 05 JULY 2018

Burton Bridge is closed to all traffic out of Burton from 18 June 2018 for up to 10 weeks.

Routes 2/10/401/402/402A/403/809/810 due to increasing congestion around Moor St / New St, particularly in the afternoons the route we take between the Railway Station and the town centre  will be dependent on which we believe is the best route at the time.  Therefore we are unable to guarantee which route your bus will take to reach New Street from the Railway Station so please do not wait at the stops opposite the Devonshire Arms and opposite Sainsburys, even if you see the previous journey run that way.  We will of course continue to drop off passengers at the recognised arrival points in New Street.  We continue to actively monitor the traffic, and may need to change this advice again before the end of the closure.

These services will continue to run their normal line of route between the town centre and the Railway Station.

Route X12/811/812 due to severe congestion at Tesco island we are actively monitoring traffic and will divert services towards Burton along Anglesey Road as necessary to minimise delays

Routes 3 and 8  in addition to the diversion between the Railway Station and New Street will then leave Burton via St Peters Bridge and Stapenhill Road.  Passengers who normally get on the bus in High Street need to go to New Street Bay 6 or Lichfield Street (Halfords).   Buses into Burton from the Winshill / Swadlincote direction will run via Burton Bridge, High Street, New Street then Sainsburys as per normal line of route.  However, there will be several full closures of the bridge from 7pm overnight – during this time inbound buses will also divert via Stapenhill Road and St Peters Bridge.  Times we leave the Hospital and Horninglow area have been adjusted by a few minutes and most buses will leave Burton towards Winshill and Swadlincote 5 minutes earlier than normal.  (The temporary timetable can be found here)

Please allow extra time for your journeys.

In order to keep the services running we may split journeys in Burton town centre,  so please be prepared to change buses if requested; this may delay your journey.
