Recent News:
ROUTE 10 - HENHURST RIDGE
Forest Road will be closed to all traffic on Monday 23rd January 2012 for up to one week which will affect route 10.
We have been in consultation with Staffordshire County Council and route 10 will operate in two parts for the duration of the road closure.
The normal bus on the service will run normal line of route via the Railway Station, Wellington Street and Shobnall Road and terminate at Forest Road. UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TURN AT OAKLEY GRANGE DUE TO THE ROADWORKS BEING FURTHER DOWN THAT WE WERE TOLD - buses will instead turn at Shobnall School. Buses will continue to leave Burton at normal times and depart from Oakley Grange at the time they would normally be there (approx 4 minutes after normal Acorn Inn departure time)
An additional bus will also operate to serve The Acorn and Henhurst Ridge. This will operate via Union Street, Station Street, Railway Station, Derby Street, Horninglow Road, Tutbury Road, Beam Hill & Anslow to Acorn Inn then down to terminate at the Aviation Lane/Henhurst Ridge loop. Buses will continue to leave Burton at normal times but departure from Henhurst Ridge/Acorn Inn may be a few minutes later than normal due to the extra distance involved.
Unfortunately we will not be able to serve the stops on Henhurst Hill between Henhurst Ridge and Forest Road (Egg Machine) nor will it be possible to travel between Shobnall Road and Acorn Inn/Henhurst Ridge.
The service between Burton and Branston will be unaffected.
For information school buses operated on behalf of Staffordshire County Council will be given access through the road closure and will not have to be diverted.CARRIAGE OF DOGS ON OUR SERVICES
Following recent incidents and in the interests of hygiene and comfort for the vast majority of our passengers dogs will no longer be carried on our services on and from Monday 31st October 2011.
Guide and assistance dogs will of course still be carried.

Buses will continue to leave Branston, Beans Covert at 10:05; 12:05 and 14:05 returning from the Town Centre at 09:52; 11:52 and 13:52

From 25th July 2011
On and from Monday, 25th July there will be alterations to our existing services and we will commence operation of a brand new service.

This route will no longer serve Anglesey Road and Branston but instead will continue from Burton New Street to the Queens Hospital via the Railway Station, Waterloo Street, Victoria Crescent, Horninglow Road, Calais Road and Norton Road. Together with new route 19 buses will run every 30 minutes during the day between Swadlincote, Newhall, Brizlincote and Burton to the Hospital
Service 10 Acorn Inn – Burton – Branston
This route will operate from Acorn Inn to Branston, Beans Covert via New Street and Anglesey Road replacing the withdrawn section of service 9. Unfortunately due to the change in validity of OAP passes before 09:30 the first bus from Beans Covert to New Street will be at 1005. Earlier and later journeys to and from Clays Lane and Anglesey Road to New Street will be available on service X12.
Service X12 Burton – Lichfield DIRECT
**MORE JOURNEYS INTRODUCED ON THIS POPULAR SERVICE**
07:15 from Burton to Lichfield and 07:55 from Lichfield to Burton (not Saturdays) – perfect for work or travelling to Burton College.
There will also be two later journeys introduced on a trial basis leaving Burton at 18:35 and 19:35 and Lichfield at 19:05 and 20:05.
Most journeys during the day will depart 5 minutes earlier than presently to allow easier access to the loading bay in Burton New Street.
Peak hour journeys will operate via Parkway (for Centrum 100) and Morrisons in Branston and certain journey will run via Anglesey Road as before.
Service 17 Stretton – Burton - DalebrookThere will be an additional journey from Stretton at 13:00 to Burton upon Trent and will continue to Stapenhill, Clay Street following requests for a later bus in this area. It will leave Burton for Stapenhill at 13:15.
Service 19 Measham – Overseal – Swadlincote - Burton - Queen's Hospital
This new FAST service will connect Short Heath, Donisthorpe, Measham and Overseal with Swadlincote, Newhall, Burton Town Centre and Burton Queen’s Hospital. Running hourly (Monday to Saturday daytime) the first bus leaves Donisthorpe 07:47, Measham 07:50 and Overseal 08:00 arriving Burton New Street 08:47 - ideal for college students and shopworkers.
Measham to Burton in under 45 minutes
Overseal to Burton in under 35 minutes
Services 9 and 19 combined will provide a 30 minute daytime frequency between Swadlincote, Newhall, Brizlincote Valley, Burton, Horninglow and Queens Hospital. This also brings buses back to Norton Road in Burton upon Trent after 4.5 years.
Service 21 Swadlincote – Linton - Burton
All daytime journeys will stay the same but there will be a few minor changes to early and later journeys:
The 06:45 from Swadlincote to Burton will run 5 minutes earlier throughout, leaving the Bus Park at 06:40. This journey will continue to Lichfield as service X12 at 07:15 running via the Railway Station and Branston with through fares available.
You’ll also be pleased to hear that the 15:25 journey from Burton to Swadlincote will operate on school days as well as Saturdays and School Holidays – a change we’ve wanted to introduce for a while now. Also an additional journey at 14:55 from Burton will run as far as Stanton, White Horse on School days and continue to Swadlincote on Saturdays and School Holidays.
There will also be minor changes to journeys from Swadlincote after 15:55 so please check the timetable carefully.
Service 21E Burton – Swadlincote - Linton
Following budget reductions at Derbyshire County Council we have negotiated to be able to keep the service going but to a revised route to enable us to be able to operate it with one rather than two buses.
Buses will leave Burton via the current line of route to Cadley Hill but will then operate via William Nadin Way to Swadlincote Bus Park. Buses will then run via Alexandra Road to Church Gresley, down Cappy Hill to Castle Gresley roundabout but then via the Castle Gresley bypass (not Mount Pleasant) to Rickman’s Corner. Buses will continue to serve Overseal and then back via Linton and Castle Gresley to Swadlincote. Buses will then run via William Nadin Way to Cadley Hill and into Burton.
This will mean slightly longer journey times from Overseal and Linton to Burton but will be much quicker from Church Gresley and Swadlincote. Swadlincote to Burton in less than 15 minutes compared to nearly 40 minutes now! Passengers in Church Gresley will need to wait on the opposite side of the road for buses towards Burton.
Unfortunately we will no longer serve the Railway Station or Queen’s Hospital but buses have been timed to connect with Arriva’s service 3.
On Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays this will mean more buses between Swadlincote and Burton now running every hour rather than two hourly (well apart from one hour in the middle of the day where the bus and driver need a rest).
All new timetables are available now in the "services and times" section. Printed leaflets will be available shortly.
